Event: Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe
Dates: October
Location: Longchamp racecourse
Details:
Since it was first run on 3 October 1920, it has become the world's foremost race for three-year old thoroughbred horses over the classic mile-and-a-half-distance. The race is always held on the first Sunday in October and is steeped in glamour and tradition. For those who enjoy a flutter, there's certainly a euro or two to be made here, but most of the crowd come to enjoy the frivolous sense of occcasion and it's good excuse to dress up in your Sunday best. Much like Ascot, you can expect to see some competitive hat displays and well-heeled gamblers eager for a big win.

How to get there:
From Paris free Shuttle buses (leaving every 10 minutes) from Porte Maillot, Pont de Sèvres (Sunday) and Porte d’Auteuil (Saturday and Sunday) – Racegoers are strongly recommended to use the shuttle bus service!
